NHTSA’s new suite of consumer videos highlight important tips for getting road trip-ready this summer.
NHTSA’s full list of summer driving tips can be found here.
-
Perform a basic safety check – Be sure to check your vehicle’s tire pressure, wiper blades, fluid levels, lights and air conditioning before you hit
the road.
-
Check for recalls – No matter the season use our VIN Look-up Tool at NHTSA.gov to make sure your vehicle is recall free.
-
Protect your passengers – Buckle up—every trip, every time. When traveling with a child, it’s safest for them to ride in a car seat suited for
their size and age, and all children 13 and younger should ride in the back seat.
-
Stay alert – Plan enough time to stop along the way to take a group stretch, get something to eat and drink, return any calls or text messages, and change
drivers if you're feeling tired or drowsy.
